Sound issues

Some preset seem to not amplify enough, while others too much. Isn't there a middle ground setting?

In these cases, try experimenting with different presets and volume levels to find the best configuration for your hearing needs. For example:

a. Combine "softer" presets, such as Preset A or B, with higher volume levels (typically, 4 or 5).
b. Alternatively, try pairing "stronger" presets, such as Preset C or D, with lower volume levels (typically, 2 or 3).
c. Finally, keep in mind that increasing the Background Noise setting (e.g., from "Lowered" to "Standard") can also enhance the perceived amplification.
d. Adjust Background Noise settings: Increasing the setting (e.g., from "Lowered" to "Standard") can amplify perceived sound.
e. Use softer presets in All-around Mode: It is generally preferable to select Preset A or B when using the glasses in the "All-around" audio mode
f. Perform "Calibration": Running the Calibration process is always recommended to optimize your overall hearing experience.

The amplification of specific sounds is annoying (metallic, unnatural). What should I do?

The Nuance Audio™ Glasses open up a world of sound that may have previously been inaccessible to you. It’s important to understand that your brain will need some time to adjust to these new auditory experiences. Since most hearing losses occur in the high-frequency range, the initial amplification of these sounds may come across as tinny, robotic, or unnatural. Discomfort during this adjustment period is common, and it typically lasts a few days. To ease the transition, consider starting with lower volume levels and gradually increasing them as you become more comfortable.

First of all, please make sure you are using the latest version of the Firmware: How can I update the Glasses' firmware?.

Here are some additional tips to help you acclimatize to your glasses:

Step 1: Experiment with Different Presets
Different presets can provide a more comfortable sound experience. Check out this for instructions on how to explore your options.

Step 2: Adjust the Background Noise Setting
Try lowering the background noise setting from "Standard" to "Lowered." For guidance on changing this setting, refer to this.

Step 3: Perform the Calibration guided process
If you haven't performed the Calibration guided process yet or need to re-perform the Calibration guided process, this step can significantly enhance your experience. Find out more about the "Calibration" process and its benefits here.

By following these tips, you can make the acclimatization process smoother and more enjoyable. Remember, it’s perfectly normal to feel some discomfort at first, but with time and patience, you’ll likely find a comfortable auditory experience that enhances your daily life. I hear my own voice too loud. What should I do?

Experiencing your voice as amplified is completely normal with any hearing solution. This occurs because you are now receiving amplification of all sounds around you, including your own voice. It typically takes about 30-40 minutes of continuous use in a noisy environment to start feeling more comfortable with this sensation, while full acclimatization usually occurs within just a few days.

First of all, please make sure you are using the latest version of the Firmware: How can I update the Glasses' firmware?

To help you adjust, consider trying the following tips:

Step 1: Adjust the "Own Voice" Configuration
Ensure that the "Own Voice" setting is configured to "No." This adjustment can help reduce the amplification of your voice. For instructions on how to do this, check out this.

Step 2: Perform the Calibration guided process
If you haven’t performed the Calibration guided process yet, or if you need to re-perform the Calibration guided process, doing so can enhance your overall experience. Learn more about the "Calibration" process and its benefits here: What is the "Calibration" process useful for, and how to perform it?

Step 3: Explore Different Presets
Different sound presets may provide a more comfortable auditory experience. Feel free to experiment with these settings. For guidance on how to change presets, refer to this.

Remember, it’s entirely normal to feel a bit odd about your amplified voice at first. With a little patience and these adjustments, you’ll likely find a more enjoyable auditory experience in no time. If you have any further questions or need assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out

I am using the glasses in "frontal" audio mode, but sounds in front of me do not seem to be amplified.

If you're experiencing audio issues with "Frontal" audio mode, try these steps:

Step 1: Check audio mode configuration
Ensure the audio mode is set to "Frontal" For help changing the mode, see: How to configure audio mode.

Step 2: Increase the volume
Sometimes raising the volume can improve sound quality. For instructions, see: How to adjust eyewear volume.

Step 3: Try different presets
Experiment with various sound presets to find one that works better for you. Learn more here: How to change presets.

Step 4: Restart your glasses
If the issue persists, trying turning them off and on again.

Step 5: Factory reset the glasses
If all else fails, perform a factory reset. See: How to reset your glasses.

I hear sounds in front of me, but sounds from behind do not seem amplified. Why? What should I do?

If you're hearing sounds in front but not behind, try these steps:

Step 1: Adjust the audio mode
Switch the audio mode from "Frontal" to "All-around" in the app to amplify sounds from all directions. For details, see: How to change audio mode.

Step 2: Increase background noise setting
Try raising the background noise setting (e.g., from "Lowered" to "Standard"). For help, check: How to change background noise settings.

Step 3: Increase the volume
Raising the volume might improve sound quality. For guidance, see: How to adjust eyewear volume.

Step 4: Experiment with different presets
Try different sound presets to find one that works better for you. Learn more here: How to change presets.

The glasses make a whistling sound. What should I do?

This issue can happen for a few reasons. Here’s how to understand and fix it:

Objects near the glasses
Whistling sounds can occur when objects are too close to or in contact with the frame. Common scenarios include:
a. Touching the frame: Adjusting or removing your glasses may cause whistling.
b. Wearing a hoodie: Fabric brushing against the glasses can cause noise.
c. Near a wall: Hard surfaces nearby can affect audio.
d. Wind: Strong winds may trigger this whistling effect.

What to do:
• Make sure you are using the latest version of the Firmware: How can I update the Glasses' firmware?
• Lowering the volume and the background noise setting can help minimize whistling: How can I set the eyewear volume What is Background Noise configuration and how can I adjust it?
